Dynamics NAV Security – Can’t everybody just be a super user?!

One of the most impressive features of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is the ability to drill down from any transaction right to the general ledger entries. Some might consider this to be one of the most annoying features of NAV if you’re trying to limit access to sensitive financial information. Setting up security for all of these users, with various levels of access, can be time-consuming and challenging, yet necessary. Making everyone a super user and hoping they don’t access general ledger information really isn’t the best solution!

Many of our customers have found that using Easy Security for Microsoft Dynamics NAV from Mergetool.com has saved them a ton of time and frustration with setting up security for their NAV users. Easy Security makes it simple to set up roles and permissions for multiple users across multiple companies. It contains a “Recorder” for permissions that captures all permissions by simply using the application. Once you’re done recording the key strokes, the permissions are built.

If you find you need more sophisticated security than just by object or data, utilizing Field Level, Actions and Data Security adds the ability to disable certain actions and control field access (edit, view and hide) on any screen in NAV!

Visibility of certain data can also be restricted. For example, you might want to allow only access to customer data to your salespeople if they are the salesperson assigned to the customer card. Any customer that is not associated with them will not appear in the available list of customers.

There are a host of other features available in this product that will save you time, money, and frustration. For more detailed information, please visit http://mergetool.com. As always, you’re welcome to contact me at tdoran@innovia.com
