Written by Innovia Consulting | 29 Oct 2025

The 2025 Wave 2 release of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central brings a suite of powerful updates to streamline financial operations. From simplifying asset creation to enhancing tax compliance and improving the user experience for accounts payable professionals, this release is packed with features that boost efficiency and accuracy.

1. Automatically Create Multiple Fixed Assests

Managing fixed assets just got easier. With the new functionality in Wave 2, users can now automatically generate multiple fixed asset cards when posting purchase documents. This is especially useful when acquiring several assets in a single transaction—such as buying 100 laptops from the same vendor.

Key Highlights:

  • Simplifies asset creation with automatic generation of multiple fixed asset records from a single purchase transaction.
  • Reduces manual input, cutting down on repetitive tasks and minimizing the risk of data entry errors.
  • Boosts data accuracy by ensuring each asset is individually recorded and traceable without extra effort.
  • Optimizes bulk asset management, making it easier to handle large-scale acquisitions efficiently.

2.  New Accounts Payable Role Center

To better support finance teams, Business Central introduces a dedicated Accounts Payable Role Center. This tailored workspace is designed to streamline vendor-related tasks and improve visibility into payables. The AP Role Center is slated for general availability in November 2025.

Key Features:

  • Unifies key tasks—including purchase documents, electronic documents, and payments—into a single, streamlined workspace for better workflow control.
  • Boosts productivity for accounts payable teams by simplifying daily processes and increasing visibility into critical tasks.
  • Reduces administrative overhead by minimizing manual handling and document switching, saving time and lowering the risk of errors. This role center empowers AP professionals to work more efficiently by surfacing the most relevant data and tools in one place.

3.  Excise Taxes Framework

One of the most anticipated features in this release is the Excise Taxes Framework. This new capability allows businesses to calculate and manage excise taxes—a critical need for industries like alcohol, tobacco, fuel, and chemicals.

The release plan notes that excise tax capability requires configuration (“Users by admins, makers, or analysts”) and is scheduled for general availability in January 2026.

What It Enables:

  • Simplifies tax compliance by automatically calculating complex excise taxes across products and regions, reducing the risk of miscalculations.
  • Mitigates compliance risks by minimizing costly errors and potential fines through accurate, automated tax processing.
  • Improves operational efficiency by streamlining excise tax workflows and reducing the manual effort required by finance and operations teams.

This framework is flexible and extensible, making it easier for companies to stay compliant with complex tax regulations.|
