Do you understand IoT and Data Technology? If not, then maybe start yesterday!

12 billion devices are connected to the Internet of Things.  In 2020, it will be over 30 billion.  Mobile is growing at a rate that is lighting fast.  Millennials are addicted to their smart phones and use them daily to purchase things.  Are you a Social Selling Organization using apps or social media or are you still doing business the way you were 20 years ago?

Disruption is now part of business models and the CIO has become the most important person it the C Suite.  Now that I have your attention, I hope you will be in the 20% that not only hear the message, but respond to the message.  The IT department is very important in so many ways to a company.  A lot of the expertise is in the hardware and keeping the network running.  In the digital age when data is king, does the person who fixed your desktop computer 10 years ago understand how to extract data from your ERP and CRM systems to provide good forecasting, trends, and access to how customers want to purchase your good and services?  Most likely not.  The CIO needs to understand your business processes and how you do business and bring your goods and services to where the customer wants to access them.  Mobile phones, tablets, and websites that are extremely user friendly and keeps them engaged are becoming vital to survival for many businesses.

Data technology is about sharing information, taking responsibility of using data and having a passion for the future on how you, your customers, your vendors can collaborate and use that data to help you grow.  This is opposite of the break fix mindset of reacting to problems.  I am attaching a link to Simona Jankowski from Goldman Sacks about the Internet of Things.  Welcome to how you should be doing business yesterday.
